Mary Cook is an 8th grade Earth Science teacher at Southside Middle School in Batesville, Arkansas. Mary is an experienced teacher who enjoys experiential learning opportunities. Mary was a 2002 Fulbright Memorial Fund Master Teacher in Japan, participated in the Freeman Foundation grant to China, and was awarded the Fulbright-Hays Teacher Travel grant to travel to Russia.

Mary boarded the NOAA Research Vessel RONALD H. BROWN on December 5 in Chile. The primary purpose of this cruise was to recover and then redeploy a well-instrumented surface mooring from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI). Mary wrote daily logs, interviewed scientists, tookdigital pictures, answered email, and participated in the "Adopt a Drifter Program" as part of her NOAA Teacher at Sea adventure.
